Wild Blueberry Heritage Center
Columbia Falls, ME
Proudly located in a blueberry-shaped geodesic dome, in the middle of wild blueberry
country in Washington County, Maine. Our mission is laser-focused on supporting our local blueberry farmers. Blueberries for Sal is just one thread in the tapestry of Downeast Maine’s wild blueberry culture. For centuries, Wabanaki First Nations, Mainers, and wildlife have played an essential role in the ecology and history of the wild blueberry barrens.

At the Heritage Center, we engage the community to promote pride of place. We educate
future farm stewards in our schools on many topics, such as:
Wild blueberry origins, growth cycle, health benefits, pollination, harvesting, the
advantages of quick frozen berries, and economic impact.
We educate visitors from all over the world on wild blueberry nutrition, the differences from the high bush variety, multi-generational culture, history, and ecosystem.
We collect and preserve the farmers’ stories in our museum. We honor two farmers every year in our Hall of Fame exhibit.

For sale:
We sell many wonderful blueberry products in our retail store, not to mention delicious local pies and muffins!

We look forward to having many visitors over Wild Blueberry Weekend, August 2-3,
2025. August is always a happy culmination and celebration of the crop. Please join us for fun with the band The Crows, and celebrate everything blueberry with us. And be sure to bring your wild blueberry stories!
